Swaddling again...

I was getting a little worn out by the 2 nightly feedings around 1-2a and then 4-5a then up at 7-8a... and the babies were crying a lot at my moms meeting on yesterday - Friday June 6th.

We stayed a little late and both babies were crying by the time we were going to go. The wonderful lactation ladies from Winter Park hospital who run the mommies meeting were the best and reminded me about the Happiest Baby on the Block class by Harvey Karp that I'd taken... he stresses recreating the "4th trimester" of the womb... with 5 "S"s

Swaddling (wrapping them up tightly)
Side or Stomach (turning them to this position)
Shhhhhhh (shhhhing really loud in their ear!)
Swinging (moving in rhythm)
Sucking (pacifier etc)

anyway, the ladies helped me swaddle both babies and turn them on their sides and shhhh them etc. and they quieted right down.

SOOOO that night we swaddled again and shhhed them to sleep and wow! Davis slept until 3am... which was longer than normal... a full 4 hours. We let Jessa continue sleeping and she slept over another 2 hours! WOW!!! 6 hours!!! We are hooked. We noticed that Davis kept working his arms out of the swaddle... so Sunday we went down to Joann's to get a bigger piece of flannel fabric to swaddle him in!

All because of swaddling we've gotten rid of a whole feeding at night. Now for a whole week we only get up for the 3-4a feeding. Then they sleep until 7am. Yeah!

Sorry Baby Davis... you don't get to stretch out anymore... but we enjoy the extra hours of sleep!
